Delause-Plane03

1. How long did it take you to build this plane in hours?

I didn't keep track of the time, but I suppose it took about 500 to 600 hrs.

2. What were some of the bigger challenges that you had to overcome?

The biggest was talking my wife into it. getting the bolt holes vertical or horizontal on the tubing to start with, then not over bending the tubing on the shallow bends like as 10110.

3. Were there any areas that you made mistakes and how did you fix them?

I didn't have too much trouble with this some tubing had to be discarded and redone but not bad 2 or 3 either broke at a hole or twisted when it was bent, just had to be more careful, drill holes in the bends after bending 30103 one of the pipe that broke for me.

4. What could FBI have done better with the kit or plans?

I had only the drawings and they were very good, this is the first time I tried to do a plain where the parts weren't already made.

5. What areas did you deviate from the plans and why?

I stayed pretty much to the plans except where the lighting holes I used a round hole because it was easier than cutting irregular holes. (example 13803 aileron control horn. ) 30003 I cut shorter about 3" and then used a tube over it to make it easier to set the horizontal stabilizer.

6. If you were to build a second plane how long to you think it would take you?

It would take about the same time, a lot of the time was used powder coating as I don't have the greatest set up.

7. Were there any parts that if you had to do it over again you would have rather bought from FBI?

I bought 10109L, 10109R, 10101, 12101, 13102, and 13103, It looked to me that they were the base of the project and should be done right. If I built another I might try 10109L and 10109R.

8. What is your future plan with this plane? Are you going to keep it or sell it?

I sold the plane before I had all the tubing bent, I finished it for the buyer, test flight went nearly perfect, no changes had to be done.

9. What engine did you choose and why?

Rotax 503 duel carbs. the buyer was a rather large person, and we thought the extra power would be OK.

10. How much did it weigh?

    290 lbs.

11. How much did you have into this project total?

    About 12000.00
